A long and successful career at General Electric (GE) began in 1960. Twenty one years later Mr Welch became the eighth Chairman and CEO. Transforming GE from a company filled with bureaucracy, to a dynamic, streamlined and more competitive business. During his time leading GE the company’s market value increased an incredible $387 billion, and during this period his innovations and ideas made him the most influential CEO of his time.

In his efforts to change and improve GE, he earned himself the nickname of "Neutron Jack" because of his reputation for being a hard and even ruthless manager.

Mr. Welch is currently the head of Jack Welch, LLC, where he advises a group of Fortune 500 business CEOs and speaks to businesspeople and students around the world.
