UPDATE FROM THE TEAM

Initial results of the impact of the 60 day learning journey
During March and April we have been hard at work supporting the many teams that are going through the Hot Spots Learning Journey. Our initial analysis shows the results are surpassing our expectations in terms of pre- and post-360 team and stakeholder ratings of improvements in innovation and productivity.

We have found that 75% of the teams we are working with have increased their performance during the 60 days of the learning journey – of whom 45% have significantly increased their performance. The anecdotal feedback from team members as well as from the changes we note during the Learning Journey are even more encouraging!

We have found that our virtual team coaching has been able to move beyond concepts and models to a deep level of integration and internalisation within the teams’ own environment. We have discovered that many teams are willing to share issues around internal conflict and stress and to have deep conversations about how to move through very difficult and very complex environments. Over the next few months, we will share research and data findings with you, based on these projects around the world.

HOT SPOTS AROUND THE GLOBE

The Hot Spots team has been racking up the air miles this month, with seminars and coaching sessions for Nokia in Scandinavia, London and Beijing. Andreas and Marilyn managed to see a few sights in Beijing though, and sent through this picture instead of a postcard!

USING VIRTUAL COACHING AND E-LEARNING

In our work with companies and teams, we have found that the Hot Spots Learning Journey provides great access to teaching and communicating via webinars. Typically our coaches are located in California, London and in the South of France, with clients located globally (teams may have members calling in from Singapore, Dubai and London) so it is a very complex mix.

We know that e-learning will play an increased role as teams become more virtual. We are working on some great innovations at the moment around e-learning and will tell you more about this in the coming months. In the mean time we would love to hear how you integrate e-learning in your organisation: send your ideas and comments to lynda@hotspotsmovement.com.

AUSTRALIAN HR AWARDS NAMED AFTER LYNDA

We are delighted to announce that Lynda has been honoured by the Australian Human Resources Institute, who has named two of its national awards after Lynda – CEO of the Year, and Manager of the Year. Lynda has worked with the Australian Human Resource Institute team to set the conditions and judging criteria for both awards.

The AHRI national awards are Australia’s premier human resources and people management awards. They recognise outstanding individuals and organisations that demonstrate excellence in the contribution they make to their own business and to the profession. For more details, visit here.

CELEBRATE THE LAUNCH OF GLOW WITH US!

After five years of research, Lynda’s new book Glow was launched in London on April 14. It was a wonderful pleasure to be joined by colleagues, clients, family and friends – wish you could have joined us!

You can see the video of the launch party here (many thanks to Tristan Stokes for working his camera magic).

Meanwhile, the team at Berrett-Koehler, Lynda’s US publishers, have created this short film for Glow: upload it to your blog or website and you can receive a 20% discount on the purchase price! Click here to view the movie message and upload to your site.

LEARN TO GLOW – VIA YOUR MOBILE PHONE

At the Hot Spots Movement, we are continually looking at new ways of building teams and networks, through face-to-face contact and through new media channels. Our colleagues at Skill Pill have created a marvellous little film specifically to view on your mobile phone. It is based on the themes of Glow and Hot Spots, and we have an exclusive preview for Community members here.

HOT SPOTS IN THE PRESS

Our work on teams, how to manage people in a downturn, and how to inspire your employees has been covered extensively in the media in the last month. You can read Lynda’s opinion piece in the Sunday Times (UK) here as well as a rather provocative piece in The Times on the work of the Hot Spots Movement with the Singapore Government here.
